For the past year, Mandy has been working with the Holyoke Soldiers Home on her Silver Award project. Leading the mixed team of bridging Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors she volunteered her efforts to coordinate on two "Days of Caring" benefiting the residents of the home.

The first Day of Caring was spent working for the Roads & Grounds team washing the various vans that transport residents to and from special occasions and daily activities. After everyone was well soaked and soapy, we headed inside to provide the inside residents with ice cream and some friendly conversation.

Our second trip was a bit bolder in terms as Mandy orchestrated an event in honor of Veterans Day. Women veterans joined in an effort to create and bake apple crisp. Three huge baking pans later had everyone excited for their first bite of freshly baked sweetness.

As Mandy puts the final touches in place for her last coordinated trip, each of the girls within Girl Scout Troops 313, 316, 317 & 319 have become part of the Holyoke Soldiers Home family and are proud to show their appreciation for our Veterans of yesterday & today.
